I heard about this game around 2 years ago, the thing that struck me was that its a game which is mostly QTE events, if you don't know what is QTE,well, let me explain, QTE or Quick time events is a type of gameplay where certain actions (button presses) will appear on screen during a CGI cutscene. you have to do the required actions in a certain time around 1-2 sec and the upcoming events of the cutscene will depend on your actions. A successful action would lead to a positive result (i.g. Beating up bad guys) and failing to the action sometimes lead the cutscene to an negative event (i.g. Bad guys beating up your character). I have been a big fan of QTE since the early days of Shenmue, which i can confident say is the GodFather of QTE because they were the first one to successfully implement it on a game. But there have been no games that the whole game was QTE based, so Heavy Rain was the exception, its rather an interesting concept, the thing about the QTE as a genre, for me, i feel that you should have a strong storyline that has many subplots so that you can avoid letting the story be a linear one, and based on the review, Heavy Rain was able to pull it off.

For the rest of the review, check the video below, courtesy of G4TV

The Pros
  • Lack of a "fail state" provides unique pressure
  • Provokes both emotional and "gamer" responses
  • Sets a fine example for future story-heavy games

The Cons
  • Problems with plot consistency
  • Outside cultural influences seep into setting
  • Distracting discrepancy between cut-scene and in-game animation

RATING:
out of 5 Stars

Eijan says: You should definitely PLAY IT, this might be a new genre for gaming

For those who are having problem with the speed of Windows 7, here are some tips, but to be honest, Windows 7 is already fast, but if you want it to become faster, do the things indicated below.

Microsoft’s latest operating system is a bit different than Windows versions of the past, and with these differences come more things to customize and tweak. Here’s a compilation of tutorials put together by the Tech-Recipes authors for customizing the interface and for tweaking the system to make it quicker.

Speeding things up:

Improve Startup Performance by Using Boot-Only Fetching
If you run a lot of programs at startup, it can take a while for your system to boot up. To speed up the process, you can enable Boot-Only fetching so that the prefetcher focuses on the booting process instead of both booting and application launching:

1. Click the Orb (Start Button).

2. Go to the Search programs and files textbox and input regedit.

3. Select regedit.exe from the results.

4. When the UAC prompt appears, click the Yes button.

5. In the left pane of the Registry Editor, go to (and select):

HLKM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\
MemoryManagement\PrefetchParameters

6. In the right pane, double-click EnablePrefetcher.

7. Change the value to 2 and click the OK button.

8. Double-click EnableSuperfetch.

9. Change the value to 2 and click the OK button.

10. Close the Registry Editor.

If you want to change the settings back to their default values, repeat the above steps, but change EnablePrefetcher and EnableSuperfetch to 3.

How to Reset the Thumbnail Cache
If the thumbnail pictures are not displaying correctly, resetting the thumbnail cache will fix this (most of the time). Resetting the cache will clear it and force the automatic creation of the thumbnails as needed:

1. Click the Orb (Start Button).

2. Select All Programs.

3. Select Accessories.

4. Select System Tools.

5. Select Disk Cleanup.

7. Select your Boot drive and click OK.

8. Check the Thumbnails checkbox (make sure nothing else is checked).

9. Click OK.

10. When prompted, click the Delete Files button.

Speed Up Taskbar Thumbnails
The Windows 7 taskbar displays previews of running programs via some very cool thumbnails. To speed up these thumbnails so that they appear instantly, follow these simple steps:

1. Open Notepad.

2. Copy and paste the following into the new text document:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse]
"MouseHoverTime"="0"

3. Save the document as speedy_thumbnails.reg.

4. Double-click the new file to merge it into the Registry.

5. Continue through the UAC prompt and confirm that you wish to perform the action.

6. Restart you computer (or simply stop and start Explorer.exe from the Task Manager).

Adjust the User Account Control (UAC) Settings
The UAC was a pain in Windows Vista, and changing the settings for UAC was an even bigger pain. Windows 7 allows you to change the User Account Control settings from the Control Panel so you can easily adjust the settings to your liking:

1. Click the Windows Orb (Start button).

2. Select Control Panel.

3. Select All Control Panel Items.

4. Select Windows Solution Center.

5. Go to the left side of the window and select User Account Control settings.

6. Use the slider control to adjust the UAC settings.

Settings include: Always notify me and wait for my response, Always notify me, Only notify me when programs try to make changes to my computer, and Never notify me.

7. Click the OK button.

How Increase the Speed of Internet Explorer 8
By simply re-registering a dll file, you can make Microsoft’s latest web browser even faster. It might sound complicated, but it is a very simple process.

Close IE8. You will need to access an elevated command prompt, to do this:

1. Click the Orb (Start button).

2. Click All Programs.

3. Go into Accessories.

4. Right-click on Command Prompt.

5. Select Run as administrator.

6. When the UAC prompt appears, select Yes.

Once you have your elevated command prompt, follow these steps:

1. At the command prompt, input the following:
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll

2. Press Enter on your keyboard.

3. A confirmation window will appear, click the OK button.

Let me start first by talking about the new template, i haven't finish the menu stuff, my plan is to compile all the videos and place them on the menu so that browsing would be a lot easier, i hope to finish it during the weekend. Also, i changed the color from a very light color to a dark color because i have been receiving feedback that the light color is hurting people's eyes.

Now back to this topic, As you all know that there is a new and irritating Parental control to stop underage people from watching adult material, to know what i'm talking about, see it in action yourself by clicking the link below:

CLICK ME: PARENTAL CONTROL

Irritating right?! haha

Here are some trailers of my favorite must see movies,

so lets start with a pretty good movie from one of my most favorite actor Woody Harrelson, i'm kinda iffy with the movie, but any movie starring Woody is a damn good movie. The movie is titled "The Defendor", its about a vigilante superhero wanna be

Now here's another trailer, this movie is starring Sam Worthington (Avatar), and so far all the movies starring Sam seems to be good movies, Avatar and Terminator Salvation. I like this movie because its about Greek Methodology (which is my fave topic) and it looks very good.

And now for the finale, saving the best for last, This movie is entitled "Kick-Ass" and its based on a comics which i read and i might say, its really good. This movie is starring new and comer Aaron Johnson, Nicolas Cage and also one of my top up and comer actors Christopher Mintz-Plasse AKA McLovin'

I can't wait for these movies!!!

That's all for now

Peace out!
So, do you know another reason why people are into pirated dvds, besides the price difference, well here's another reason. NOTE: I don't tolerate buying pirated Media but, if you are to buy one, and you have REALLY enjoyed the product, please do justice to the people who suffered in making that product and buy the original, thanks.

I decided to do some light modding to 'Cordoba', so that i can utilize the window. I am not into modding that much because its a lot of hard work, especially the UV kit for your PSU cables, that thing is really really hard and somewhat risky because one wrong move and you wouldn't be able to use your PSU again. I decided just to go with some CCFL and a sound controller. I had no trouble installing them, and you should check out my videos below for the full explanation and also the final outcome of the modding.

Here are some pictures after i modded 'Cordoba'

My mom was asking me to find her a monitor for her pc, and knowing her, i instantly new that the monitor should be clear and power efficient. So i decided to research 'green' lcd monitors or those monitors that have power saving features. Upon my research, there were tons of positive feedback with the Asus VH models, because of their power saving feature and yet has the best image quality beating Samsung's syncmaster and the Viewsonic lcd monitors, and on top of that, its the cheapest among all three. I decided to call up my 'go to guy' for PC parts and luckily he was selling one, an 18.5 inch model, so i decided to order it and create an unboxing video plus some testing as well.Well Enjoy

that's all for now

Peace Out!!
I know many of you buy your pc as an pre-assembled package( don't worry, i used to be like that) and still wondering how those parts are assembled, well don't worry, because i'm here for you! In this article and video, i'll be showing you guys, what can be found inside the box when you buy a processor,AMD or Intel, its the same. I bought these processor because my mom is resurrecting my old pc(Optiplex 755)which has no processor because i'm using it on 'Cordoba', i decided to do her a favor and buy her one and resurrect the old Optiplex 755, this would be like my Christmas gift for her. I decided to research the most performance per value processor, and knowing her, a High end processor is out of the question because she wouldn't be using all of it's capability, a simple processor that can do some basic gaming (diner dash, hidden objects) and do some minor programs ( Microsoft Office, Internet) and that has a fast cache would be enough, i found out that in the LGA775 socket, the E5400 has the best match for my Mom's user demand and also it consumes few watts and most importantly, its cheap, i was able to find one for only 3k. It's only a Pentium dual core and not a core 2 duo but with almost the same architecture (difference in the implementation of the L2 cache), performance but a cheaper price, it's a no brainer. So here's the vid, Enjoy

I was able to get hold of a early BlueRay copy of this movie and just finished watching it an hour ago. I was thinking of watching this movie when it hit the movie house a month ago but due to its genre and theme, i decided to skip it to save money and just rent it when it comes out, Vampire theme movies tends to suck (not blood lol!) suck in terms of storyline, dialogue; in other words, the movies are just plain bad. Daybreakers stars Ethan Hawke (Gattaca, Training Day) Willem Dafoe ( Spiderman, Shadow of the Vampire) and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Merlin).

I was expecting the movie to be very bad like the twilight franchise, but this movie really surprised me. Its a rather new concept, the movie shows the world in the year 2019 are being run by Vampires, in the brief explanation of the movie, Vampirisim is a plague that affected 95% of the population of the world and turning them to vampire. Its astonishing a society being ran by vampires, i really like the concept of the movie showing the world built for a vampire society like underground tunnels, UV proof cars, blood mixed cocktails and a human blood farming center. In the story, the problem was that the vampire society is running low of blood to supply the rest of the population and because of the dwindling numbers of humans, an alternative source must be found. This is where Ethan's character kicks in, being head of the program that is responsible in finding the alternative source, he is put in dilemma when he found out that the company(largest human blood farming center) he is working for won't stop farming humans even after an alternative source is found because of profits. Being an Vampire who doesn't drink human blood anymore, he decided to join the human resistance and hoping in stopping the vampire tyranny and also at the same time find a cure to the vampire disease. This plot is where the movie plays around, and a lot of twists and surprises made the movie an enjoyable experience.

The downside of the movie is that the action was so so, and didn't utilize their actor's star power and skills that much; might be because of the shallow thinking character they played. I also didn't like the ending that much because i felt it was somewhat unfinished. The action were so-so. And they didn't show Isabel Lucas that much, bummer.

Overall, This is a enjoyable movie truly worth your time, and a fresh taste from the vampire genre.

PROS: Ensemble Cast, Interesting Storyline, New Concept to the vampire genre

CONS: Didn't utilize the actors that much, some questionable scenes, somewhat an unfinished ending, Actions were so-so, Didn't show Isabel Lucas that much

RATING:out of 5 stars

EIJAN SAYS: if you have the time or a fan of the vampire genre, SEE IT

As few of you know, Zootfly ( the creator of Panzer Elite) is making a Prison Break game, which is based on the first season. Let me level with you, I was a huge Prison Break fan, but as the series progress, it became at one point that i can't bear watching the series anymore, around season 4, because of the ridicolous plot and storyline. I thought the Company was all so powerful but when they reached season 4, the Company was just a stupid organization that was run by a dumb general, wtf!. So like i said, seeing the first screenshots of the game and brief description, its no suprise, that this game will be a bad bad bad game, so do me a favor, don't buy the game and please don't even play it. Well, might as well tell you the plot of the game, you will be playing Tom Paxton, a company agent trying to find out why Michael Scofield became a bank robber and sent himself to prison, so you will be going undercover as a prison mate yourself inside Fox River, and befriending the show's protagonist. I'm telling you this game is sounding like the bad adaptation of the CSI and Lost videogames. Here are some screenshots of the games, some heavily photoshopped screenshots btw.

Spartacus:blood and sand is a tv series remake of the old movie with the same name. Its a rather new series, just 4 episodes old, saw it last January when the first 2 episodes was leaked on the internet and i might say, this is one hell of a good series. It was picked up for season 2 even before the first episode was premiere indicating that the brass upstairs really liked it. The series uses the same techniques as those found on 300 and sin city and somehow they were able to pull it off. As a warning, this series shows a lot of nudity and sex, i mean a lot, you might be surprise that a tv show is allowed to show that much and in a way that it's almost R rated. I guess the producers really wanted to stick to the real Roman culture which was about sex and power.

Like gladiator, Spartacus is an Thracian who mutinied against his Roman general and this lead to him being thrown to the Colosseum to die, but he fought his way to survive and eventually he won the crowd over and as a result, he was bought by a rich person to be train as a Gladiator. Spartacus main goal was to earn his freedom and find his wife( who the Roman enslaved and sold to the highest bidder). The fighting and the storyline of this series is his strong point and i think the only bad thing about it is that the audience have to wait another week just to see the next episode and also the scene of a gladiator named Barca 'the beast of Carthaginian' sexing it up with a young boy and truly proving he is 'the beast of Carthaginian' . haha one weird scene i might add

Here's the season1 trailer of Spartacus: Blood and Sand

One of my guilty pleasure is watching TV series, and trust me, i have almost seen them all, but one thing i like are those TV series that are very good but nobody watches them because of their questionable time slots. One such series is Merlin, Merlin like the name imply is about the same Merlin from the Arthurian legends. The only difference in this series from the legends is that Arthur and Merlin are of the same age which is around early 20ish, i think the producers wanted a more approachable and go lucky version of Merlin to the audience rather than the grumpy,be crazed old man that the Arthurian legends portray. Another good thing with this series is that the time frame of the series is around where Arthur is just a prince, which is another welcome addition i might add, and as a result, Arthur's image is more of a energetic cocky young prince who has his own weaknesses and because of this, its a lot more enjoyable to watch him rather than the perfect and coy version of Arthur when he is already a king like stated on the Arthurian legends. Don't be thinking that this series is light years away from the Arthurian legends; trust me, this series might be the closest to the Arthurian legends compared to all those movies and series that were based on the legends, i think the only show that can beat it to its loyalty to the Arthurian legend was the 2 part mini series of Hallmark called Merlin which starred Sam Neill. I like this series a lot because of the chemistry between Arthur and Merlin are funny as hell, well here are some clips from one of my fave episode of Merlin, and use this as a basis, if you want to see the series or not, in this episode, Arthur has been cast under a spell by a rival king so that he is attracted to a princess of a rival kingdom and hoping a war starts between Camelot and of that rival kingdom.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is the first of the movie adaptation of the Percy Jackson and The Olympian franchise, which are (will be) movie adaptation of the 5 books series created by Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson stars a up and comer actor Logan Lerman along with an ensemble cast which includes Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Abel, Rosario Dawson, Steve Coogan, Uma Thurman, Catherine Keener, Sean Bean and Pierce Brosnan.

Percy Jackson is a demi god, half human and half god, having a human mother and a father who is a God. His father (Poseidon) isn't your ordinary god, he is part of the Big 3 Olympians, which consists of Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. Percy is wrongfully accused as the lightning thief, the one who stole Zeus' bolt. To prevent a war between the worlds, Percy tries at all cost to prove his innocence and at the same time catch the real lightning thief. Alongside with his companions, a satyr bodyguard, named Grove Underwood, and another demi god, the daughter of Athena, Annabeth Chase, they travel across the underworld, across earth and across the heavens to find who is the lightning thief.

If you read the book, you should watch this movie because it was 100% loyal to the book and Percy Jackson is a lot more entertaining and charismatic compared to Harry Potter, the plot of the stories are more straight forward and the idea of Greek methodology in the modern world is a welcome surprise. As a note, the first book is the most boring book compared to the other 4 books, but it also one of the most important because a lot of important characters are introduced in the first book, this is the only drawback with the movie, is that it has a 50/50 chance to attract the audience because of the weak storyline of the first book but i guarantee that the next sequels will blow your head away.

PROS: Very Loyal to the Back, Ensemble Cast, Percy is very Charismatic and the same time funny, Audience will enjoy the film

CONS: 50/50 chance of the film turning the audience to be hard core fans, Most boring (yet, still enjoyable) of the 5 book series

RATING: out of 5 stars

Eijan Says: If you read the book, SEE IT, if you haven't read the book, still SEE IT.

'Did you hear about the Morgans' is a romantic comedy movie starring Hugh Grant ( Music and Lyrics, Notting Hill, About a boy) and Sarah Jessica Parker ( Sex and the City). The movie is about a recently separated husband and wife who found themselves in trouble and eventually was forced to stay together in a far secluded country and hoping to spark the gone romance between them while hiding from the bad guys. I saw the movie last week, and i really like Hugh Grant's performance in all of his film, also in this one, his acting approach (which is not caring about his character and not going with the 'being in character' approach) is a welcome sight to movie viewers. By avoiding being in love with character, Hugh can be just Hugh, throw a little bit of sarcasm and joke there and people love it. I'm not a fan of the acting of Sarah Jessica Parker to begin with, and somehow i still see the irritating persona of Carrie Bradshaw here in this movie. Overall, the mixture between the two actors is just awkward and unromantic, thrown in a weak plot and you got a not so good movie here. But some quirky humor from Hugh and Sarah Jessica saved the movie from being a total mess, but some jokes that they told in the film were really lame and failed to make the audience to laugh which is another reason that made the movie not that appealing. And finally the plot was weak and so predictable that after watching the trailer below, i bet you can already guess the whole plot of the movie. As a conclusion, the movie failed to capitalize their actor's appeal by throwing them a weak plot and some really dull lines.

PROS: Hugh is still good ol' Hugh, Some lines are comedic

CONS: Dull lines, Weak Plot, Movie was too long for its genre (2 hours)

RATING: out of 5

*Warning: Post contains lots of picture

Due to time constraints and concentration, i wasn't able to create a video about the assembly of 'Cordoba' but i was able to take a lot of pictures during the 4-5 hours assembly. 'Cordoba' is the first PC i made from scratch from all the calculations of maximum wattage, the capacity of the 12V rails and to the maximum theoretical overclock ability of the whole system, everything was researched and thought by me, so 'Cordoba' is really special to me. I used to buy those package systems from computer manufacturers like Dell or HP and then upgrading the parts like crazy but one thing that really irritates me is the limitation of this system to upgrades especially when you realized that you can't upgrade this pc with a particular hardware you want because of compatibility after using it for the last 2 years, that part really irritates me. With 'Cordoba', i know the strengths and limitation of the system and upgrading it is less of a hassle than those pre-build PCs.

These are all the hardware that i will be using to build 'Cordoba', its Frankenstein 101

Removed RV02 from the box, this thing is heavy; already weighing 28 pounds just the case alone. I had a sore back the next day because of lifting it over and over again

Removed the cloth cover of the RV02, This the top cover of the case, see all the air holes

This is a nice explanation of the Stack cooling of the Raven series, this test was done on the RV01, take note, RV02 has better Stack cooling characteristics,Cool ain't it.

This is the bottom part of the front panel, the logo of the RAVEN series is embossed on it; one sick logo by the way

This is the Side panel window of the RV02 still with protective plastic on it

This is the top of the RV02 without the air hole cover on it, as you can see there is a lot of air holes even to the Expansion slot covers

The inside of the case

Those are the tool less locks for your 5.25" drive bays and also at the bottom is the removable HDD cage
This is the removable and washable dust filters for those massive 180mm fans

Unboxing the Logitech X-210 Speakers

This is the Logitech X-210 unboxed

Removed all the hardware from their boxes, lets get it on!

Another closer look

Removed the other side panel of the RVO2, this is where you gonna run all those cables coming form the PSU

Starting point, attach the PSU to the case

Unscrewed a part of the case,so that the PSU mounting would be easier

The PSU is now mounted to the case

Had an easy time mounting the PSU to case, took me just around 10 minutes.

Next step was to attach the CPU to the Motherboard but first i had to get it from my Dell Optiplex 755 system, *Tanan, this is the inside of the Optiplex, its all dusty.

First time removing the CPU cooler since i acquired the system 2.5 years ago, and the accumulated dust looks like ashes that came from mt. Pinatubo

The dusty and thermal paste covered Q6600

Removed the Q6600 from the Optiplex 755's Mobo

Cleaned and attached it to the ASUS P5Q SE PLUS mobo

Attached the OCZ Vendetta 2 Cpu Cooler on top of the Q6600, the easy installation feature that the Vendetta 2 bragged about...took me 2 hours to install it perfectly to the mobo, Those damn push pins won't lock with the mobo, had to remove and reaaply thermal paste like 3 times.

Mounting the DVD RW drive to the case

Locking it with the Tool less lock

Mounted the Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB to the HDD cage

Mounted the MOBO to the case and also mounted the 2x2gb Patriot Gamer Series Rams and HiS Radeon 5770

Attached the cables to their intended slots, due to some stupid placement of some power slots especially the 24pin Mobo power slot which is located on the middle of the Mobo, the mobo is preventing me with some good cable management because of this imperfection

A closer look

The Maiden boot up

Maiden Bootup was a success, installed Windows 7 Home Professional 64-bit and Linux

Comparing the height of the Optiplex 755 and RV02, the Optiplex 755 is a Mid Tower

The Length

Thats how long the RV02 compared to your ordinary tower

The backside

Finally, Cordoba is fully set up
Side Panel Window

Much Better Cable Management

That's all for now

Tune in tomorrow for the benchies of Cordoba and the addicting world of Overclocking

Peace Out
