One of the most anticipitated web series out there is the Kevin Tancharoen's Mortal Kombat: Rebirth. It is basically about Mortal Kombat the game, but the movie is more serious and more of a reboot of the franchise from the 2 disaster movie that gave Mortal Kombat a bad name and also movies based on Videogames.






The planned reboot started when Tancharoen created a low budgeted trailer of his idea of Mortal Kombat (see video below), and it really caused a stir among the gaming community as it was positively receive. Somehow, Warner Bros. (holds the rights to MK) noticed, and gave the green light to Tancharoen to produce a 10 episode web series of MK with their financial backing. Tancharoen has brought in the Helbing Brothers, writers for Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and his sister who is a writer for the Dr. Horrible mini series.



Right now, there haven’t been a full cast lists, but Michael Jai White(Spawn, Dark Knight) will reprise his role as Jax and also Jeri Ryan (Star Trek Voyage) as Sonya Blade. Rumours has it, besides the characters that was shown in the trailer, there will be other familiar characters that will be included in the series.They are Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Kabal, Kitana, Mileena and Scorpion.


I’m excited to watch this web series, as I was blown away with the test trailer, and in my opinion, this is what MK really should look like, not like those kiddie crap movies that made MK a fucking disappointment.


It will be released the same time as the Mortal Kombat reboot Game.
